Russia to limit nitrogen fertilizers exports amid gas price surge
MOSCOW, Nov 3 (PRIME) -- The government will restrict exports of nitrogen fertilizers to 5.9 million tonnes and of complex nitrogen-containing fertilizers to 5.35 million tonnes to prevent effect on the Russian economy from a gas price rise, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin told a government meeting on Wednesday.
“The gas price makes up a significant part in the structure of nitrogen mineral fertilizers production,” he said.
“To prevent deficit on our domestic market and, consequently, an increase in food prices, the government on behalf of the president imposes temporary restrictions on the exports of nitrogen and complex nitrogen-containing fertilizers for six months,” Mishustin said.
